When your clients are just as hopelessly romantic as you are…
When Esma told me that after their civil wedding, they wanted to jump in the car in their wedding suit and dress and drive to Paris to kiss under the Eiffel Tower, I was already over the moon. But the moment they arrived around 11:30 PM and I was waiting for them, I felt so many butterflies in my stomach and I knew:
I WANT THIS TOO ONE DAY!
We started the shoot the next day at the Louvre to take these stately and romantic photos in an iconic location. And how lucky we were that this day turned out to be such a beautiful spring day. No matter how beautiful the city is, every place always gets a bit better with some sunshine on your face.
In one of the busiest places in Europe, wearing a wedding dress and suit. Well… you can expect some attention. Esma and Miloud were true celebrities for a day in Paris, but in the most fun and positive way possible. People cycling around to congratulate the newlyweds or to tell them how beautiful they look, people waving from the bus… nothing but love and positivity!
We zigzagged through the streets of Paris and used almost every mode of transportation you can think of. On the way and during the shoot, we laughed so much and experienced such random things. The Tuk Tuk driver who, after ten minutes of driving, charged €300 (which we did not pay), the French police who stopped us because you absolutely cannot ride a scooter with two people (newly married or not, the law is the law), and so on. Fortunately, the mood didn’t dampen, and the fun and love are beautifully reflected in all the photos!
We went back to the couple’s hotel to take a shot from the window of this charming boutique hotel, located right next to the Champs-Élysées, and then it was time for me to rush back to the Thalys train to Amsterdam after this amazing shoot day. Esma and Miloud stayed for a few more days!
Dear Esma and Miloud, your love shines brightly, and I hope it continues to shine even brighter for all the people around you for a long time. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of it!
